COLLECTIONS

When creating works, the main concepts I seem to explore continuously revolve around my life in the industrial landscape of the city, especially my home, Manchester.

My paintings attempt to express feelings and ideas about contemporary city life and its impact on me emotionally and psychologically.

My paintings consider subjects like the freedom and indulgent experiences of nightlife when released from the conformity of the working day. Vague memories of wild nights spent in the city, the dimly lit back streets that hold both mystery and danger, the vibrant and colourful clubs, bars, and restaurants where we surrender to our desires, enjoying the music and the company of strangers. I remember the passion and that ignited me, and I am profoundly aware of the price I paid for those pleasures.

I'm am also interested in the contrast between the natural world and the harsh, rigid man-made structures we live in. How our soft, delicate bodies and minds operate inside these concrete and steel machines.

I explore an alternative inner experience of urban existence by considering these elements together.

It is a personal and reflective journey on the person I was and the person I've become.
