"I think I'm nocturnal."
I'm fascinated by the energy of the city at night. When the streets come alive with an alluring pull. The darker sides of human life illuminated by neon lights and colourful doorways.
Drawing from my years designing nightclubs and bars, I try to capture the hazy recollections of a night on the town.
A loose, raw technique – gradients, blurred focus, sometimes fingers and palms mixing paint directly on the canvas.
These paintings are about that tension between conformity and pleasure.
Desire and logic.
The internal and external struggles that shape our decisions.
And because of the night, and the danger,
the fun that shines from the streets and doorways.
